Born in Switzerland, of French nationality, Gerladine Bajard was raised in several countries (Saudi Arabia, Morocco, India and France). After stuying in Paris, at Ecole Normale Superieure, and following theater and cinema lessons at the Sorbonne, she settled in Berlin, where she studied at the Deutsche Film und FernsehAkademie, where she graduated in mise-en-scene. She worked in edition and collaborated to the musical project Lies and Vanities.
After directing several short films during her student years (Petit Conte pour enfant majeur, Squash), she became first assistant to world-renowned directors such as Angela Schanelec, Valeska Grisebach, Claire Denis.
She also operates as a script doctor (Lourdes from Jessica Hausner, offcial competition Venice Film Festival 2009)
